Having successfully completed a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science Richard trained to become a physiotherapist attaining an MSc degree in physiotherapy in 2004.

He started practising within an NHS setting and quickly found work learning his trade within a busy sports injuries clinic. He quickly developed an interest and flare for treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and together with his interest in sport specialised into this type of management.

Since then he has completed training in acupuncture, McKenzie method, advanced manual therapy and sports injury management.

In 2007 he opened Deeside Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic – an exclusive clinic situated in Banchory offering a high quality accessible physiotherapy service for the people of Royal Deeside. The clinic rapidly developed an excellent and trusted reputation with local GPs and patients and has seen its services expand significantly to include input from Podiatry, dietetics, sports masseurs, Pilates classes and specialist postural and work related assessments.

Further to his clinical reputation, Richard has also developed strong community links. Often seen being involved at local events, Deeside Physiotherapy has become an integral service for many local businesses and sports clubs.

In 2011 Richard was selected to work as a Physiotherapist for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Rebecca joined the team at Deeside Physiotherapy in 2008 and has been an integral part of the service since.

With valuable experience in treating both adults and children, Rebecca brings a fresh set of additional skills to the clinic.  With her confident and professional outlook Rebecca delivers the most  effective, efficient and patient centred physiotherapy approach possible.

Having graduated in 2007, Rebecca has optimised her knowledge and skills whilst working within the NHS where she has worked through a variety of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal settings. Having developed an ongoing interest in treating paediatric patients she also works as a senior
physiotherapist at The Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital.

More recently undertaken a masters module for advanced child health practitioners Rebecca now  offers a valuable paediatric specialism for Deeside Physiotherapy.

Sandy Batho
Pilates Instructor
Sandy has worked along side Deeside Physiotherapy as our Pilates Guru since 2011. Having had a long and rewarding career in both nursing and television Sandy turned her attention towards Pilates. Having suffered a nasty back injury in 2008 Sandy experienced first hand how beneficial Pilates can be in the rehabilitation process. This ignited a passion within her and she went on to complete her training with Hanson Pilates qualifying with distinction.

Since then she has formed Sublime Pilates and has been working closely with us instructing our Pilates classes with her own unique hands on approach of teaching.

Whether you are a beginner or more experienced in Pilates you will feel in safe hands with Sandy who will progress you through the class with the highest attention to detail. With the close working relationship with Deeside Physiotherapy we can rehabilitate your injuries using Pilates safely, effectively and enjoyably at times that are convenient for you.
